Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - From the preface: 'Pathologists are responsible for the interpretation of tissue samples removed for the purpose of establishing a diagnosis. This textbook has been conceived and arranged in a manner that facilitates the task of arriving at a diag…nosis through the evaluation of tissues removed from patients afflicted with neurological complaints. The portion of the diagnostic work-up that is purely 'clinical', such as the history of the disease and the results of the physical examination are entirely beyond the scope of this textbook.Extensive descriptions of disease processes, which are available in most of the references cited, have been omitted in favor of relatively detailed descriptions and abundant illustrations of the histologic abnormalities that, as a group, constitute a diagnostic entity.'.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Every year dozens of physicians-in-training face, for the first time, the responsibil ity of examining and diagnosing central nervous system tumors or biopsies of the central nervous system, the peripheral nerves or muscles, whose surgical resecti…on has been decided on both as a form of treatment (in the case of tumors) and as means to confirm a presumptive diagnosis. The selection of the most appropriate form of post surgical treatment for most tumors is predicated on the precise identification of the tumor cells. The evaluation of the specimen, by a pathologist, will not only determine whether the lesion is truly neoplastic, but also whether there are histologic indicators of malig nancy. Moreover, in some cases, the pathologist will be asked to determine whether the tumor cells contain certain hormone precursors or receptors, as an example. Recognition of many of the features that one must search for requires the judicious application of methods that may not be readily known to the physicians involved in the various diagnostic procedures. The handling and processing of the tissues as they arrive in the pathology laboratory for the above reasons vary as a function of the organ (or site) of origin of a given tumor as well as a function of the presumptive clinical diagnosis. The material contained in this book series has been organized in an attempt to help the pathologists-in-training, the general pathologists, the neurosurgeons, and neu rologists to understand the logic behind such special requirements.

With over 1,400 species classified in 300 genera, the Cerambycidae is the sixth largest among 117 beetle families in Australia. These beetles often attack and kill living forest or orchard trees and develop in construction timber, causing serious damages. Virtually all Ceram…bycidae feed on living or dead plant tissues. Larvae often utilise damaged or dead trees for their development, and through feeding on rotten wood form an important element of the saproxylic fauna, speeding energy circulation in these habitats. Many species are listed as quarantine pests because of their destructive role to the timber industry. This volume provides a general introduction to the Australian Cerambycidae with sections on biology, phylogeny and morphology of adult and larvae, followed by the keys to the subfamilies and an overview of the 74 genera of the subfamily Lamiinae occurring in Australia. All Lamiinae genera are diagnosed, described and illustrated and an illustrated key to their identification is provided. The third of a four-volume series providing comprehensive treatment of Australia's beetles. This series represents a comprehensive treatment of the beetles of Australia, a relatively under-studied fauna that includes many unusual and unique evolu…tionary lineages found nowhere else on Earth.Volume 3 (Polyphaga, Part 2) contains 12 chapters, providing critical information and identification keys to the genera of the Australian beetle families included in the superfamily Curculionoidea (Nemonychidae, Anthribidae, Belidae, Attelabidae, Caridae, Brentidae and Curculionidae) and one subfamily of Cerambycidae (Lamiinae). Each chapter is richly illustrated with black and white photographs, high-resolution images and drawings. The book also includes colour habitus figures for about 900 Australian beetle genera belonging to the families treated in this volume. The chapters have been written by 11 contributors from Australia, Poland and the USA. [9781486314539].

Longhorn Beetles Cerambycidae are one of the most easily recognised groups of beetles, a family that worldwide encompasses over 33,000 species in 5,200 genera. These beetles often attack and kill living forest or o…rchard trees and develop in construction timber (like European House borer, introduced to WA), causing serious damages. One hundred and forty-two Cerambycinae genera are diagnosed and described, an illustrated key to their identification is provided, and images illustrate representatives of genera and of actual type specimens.
