The illustrations are delicately done by Ernest Wilson, a popular painter from Victorian England. The edges of the book are gilt, and there are gilt touches to the pages at several points. Selections of poetry by Keats, Wordsworth, Browning, Shelley, Coleridge, Spenser and others. The use of chromolithography allows for a separate pass of white, and this adds a delicate bright touch to many pages. Beautiful and rare. Seven and a quarter inches tall by six inches wide, with rounded edges that are gilt. All pages are the same stiff card weight. No jacket of course. Language: eng.…

Most outstanding is the plate with a garlanded bouquet of wildflowers and birds that frame Goethe verse. Other poets include Longfellow, Uhland, Franz Kugler, Freiligrath, Ruckert.
