Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: VG-. No Jacket. A J Johnson (illustratore). Not stated. Although not dated this is obviously an early edition of Ethel Turner's classic "Seven Little Australians." The book is 236 pages followed by 18 pages of the publisher's other titles for young readers, apart from the frontis only one other plate is present, that facing page 222, which is loose, there are chapter head sketches. Perhaps the best clue for pulication date can be established from the hard covers. These are blue with the title in three lines of gilt type at the top with the "seven" underlined with seven gilt dots, in the top right corner is a gilt figure of a child wearing a bonnet, toward lower left, in impressed black, is the running figure of an older girl, behind her and flowing from lower feft and curving to near top centre is a slim branch with leaves, also in black as is the author's name in two lines crossing the branch at mid-point toward the right edge. The spine title is gilt in three lines with the dots vertically below, mid-point is gilt author name with the gilt head of a boy eating a biscuit below. The front cover has edge and corner wear, also at front spine hinge, wear to spine extremities, minimal wear surfaces both boards, end papers are dark blue and VG, text block excellent with occasional light foxing, no inscriptions,

Aggiungi al carrelloCloth. Condizione: Good. A. J. Johnson (illustratore). A classic Australian children's novel from English-born Australian author Ethel Turner. First published in 1894, this is a later edition published circa 1897, after the publisher's trading name became 'Ward, Lock & Co. Limited.Illustrated throughout with numerous in-text images, the first few of which have been hand-coloured.A classic Australian children's novel, set mainly in Sydney during the 1880s. This story elates the adventures of the seven mischievous Woolcot children, their stern army father Captain Woolcot, and faithful young stepmother Esther. Having moved to rural Lindfield (now Woodlands, Killara, New South Wales) from the inner city suburb of Paddington, the bushland surroundings quickly became important in Turner's stories. Her love of the country is displayed in this work and made it highly popular across Australia. In 1994, the novel was the only book by an Australian author to have been continuously in print for one hundred years. Written by Ethel Turner, an English-born Australian novelist and children's literature writer. Illustrated by A. J. Johnson. With publisher's advertisements to the rear. Dated from Trinity College Dublin Library. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Small splits in the cloth to the board tips. Front hinge tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Glue residue to the front pastedown. Good. book.
