Raphael Salaman (1906 1993) was a lexicographer of tradesmen's tools and his wife, Miriam Polianovsky published poems with Elkin Mathews. George Ewart Evans (1909 1988) was a pioneering Welsh-born oral historian. He published a series of books examining the disappearing customs and way of life of rural Suffolk and wrote short stories, novels and poems.
