With publisher's advertisements to the front and rear. In the original quarter cloth binding with paper boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine with the odd mark to the boards. Front hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Good. Various (illustratore). book.

Spine on part one has old tape repairs other 11 spines and boards quite good. This is ex Forbes library with a book plate in each section and a perf on the title page. The etchings have a small… stamp to the reverse. This has 36 of the 37 original etchings. The missing one is by Israels.Plates are quite clean with no watermarks or foxing.A few have chipped edges as do some of the text pages. All pages have wide margins to allow trimming when bound. Some great images in here. Weighs about 35 lbs. No dates but published between 1882 to 1884. Interesting ads for other publications on the inside boards. Pics coming.

Binding with minimal traces of use, first two pages with minor foxing spots, further a clean and stainless interior. A fine copy. Fine complete copy , in the original first edition, of this periodical covering the Paris world exhibition of 1889. This exhibition saw the erection of the Eiffel tower. Some text contributions are by famous French authors such as Alexandre Dumas fils, J.K. Huysmans, H. Lavedan, Guy de Maupassant, Victor Champier, Théodore de Banville. The out of text plates are often in photo engraving ( héliogravure) , also in chromothithography. The frontispiece plate (not mentionned in the index) is a very early example of colour engraving printed by Gillot. Text in French.
