Aggiungi al carrelloIllustrated Wraps. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Paris: La Vie Parisienne, 1924. The February 9, 1924 Issue (62e annee, No 6). Illustrations by Chéri Herouard, Vald'Es (Valvérane & D'Espagnat), Fabien Fabiano, Louis Vallet, Henri Avelot, others uncredited. Text in French. Illustrated wraps, folio (13.75" x 10.5"), 19 pp. Just Good, because both covers are detached (though fully present) from the main body, which is itself quite firmly integral; otherwise, this is a Very Good Plus issue or better, with contents virtually immaculate after all this time. Sharp. See scans. Exceptional condition for this thin-but-large, fragile weekly. Glossy covers; first and last few internal pages are on newsprint, else all glossy. Rather spectacular full-page color illustrations (in every issue, in fact) by the coterie of guys who knew how to do what you see here. In the case of this issue, Chéri Herouard, Vald'Es (Valvérane & D'Espagnat), Fabien Fabiano, Louis Vallet and Henri Avelot are credited, with some other very credit-worthy art being uncredited. See scans. Cute humor, from the same mood as mutoscope cards, or perhaps a bit (only a bit) more refined. Gentle titillation. Even the occasional partial nudity is rather tasteful and soft, though humorously flirtatious. All of the full page efforts are eminently frame-able, and at this time of a sensibility midway-evolved between nouveau and deco, as is much of the uncredited b&w illustration. An original - and of course first and only edition - of the 2/9/1924 issue of this memorable and long-lived French weekly offering of very soft, very artful light erotica. The captioned illustrations by the eminent "dessins" luminaries named above, and others in their clan, are what really "make" this issue (as was generally the case through the era), but cartoons, serial fiction and around-town pieces nicely compliment those. Gorgeous, oversized large color illustrations are what you collect these for. l-LNG2. Aggiungi al carrello4to. In red cloth binding, gilt, with the department store's logo on the front board and endpapers. In very good condition, on aged paper, with empty wallet on rear pastedown. Green cloth bookmark with printed advertisement 'pour la Toilette des Dames'. An attractively-designed volume, with a marked Art Nouveau feel, the highlight of which is the set of twelve full-page illustrations of the seasons on art paper by Fabiano. Each shows an appropriate scene featuring the store's products (for example July shows a tradesman up a ladder hanging up bunting and flags (caption: 'Articles pour Illuminations | Drapeaux | Soldes d'Eté | Occasions') to the front of his store, while a group of people watch. On the reverses of the leaves carrying Fabiano's illustrations are twelve illustrations, with scores, of French children's songs. The volume contains photographs of the interior of the store, a calendar and diary for the listing of household expenditure (neatly completed in pencil in a contemporary hand, providing valuable information on middle-class expenditure), menus, many pages of advertisements, eleven pages carrying twenty-two illustrations of the interiors of Paris theatres, viewed from the stages, with the 'Prix des Places', pages listing opening times and prices of various Paris sights. Aggiungi al carrelloFirst edition. Octavo. Contemporary half green morocco over marbled boards; nine raised bands to the spine with red morocco title label lettered in gilt. Original pictorial wrapper by Fabien Fabiano bound in at the front. Illustrated with 14 colour plates, 4 black and white plates, and 15 in-text illustrations by Fabiano. 286pp. A very good copy, the binding square and tight with a few minor marks to the spine and a little rubbing to the extremities. The contents with toning due to the paper quality, the occasional faint pencil line to page margins, and some light foxing to the endpapers are otherwise in very good order. An attractive copy. An uncommon French fin-de-siècle memoire recounting the experiences of its anonymous author - "A Curious Woman" - in her romantic encounters with the opposite sex, wonderfully illustrated by the artist, illustrator, designer, and former pupil of Alphonse Mucha, Fabian Faniano (1882-1962). In the preface, the author explains that she has "tried in these pages to liberally say [her] sentiment on Love, to recount true histories, of which [she] thinks to draw a profitable lesson, [and] to speak of physical love with the same truth as sentimental love". The first chapter explains her earliest encounter with love - at the age of eight - sitting in church, gazing at a chorister, who simply looked back with "une indifférence infinie". The next "object of her cult" is the preacher himself, followed by a professor of literature whose presence made it nearly impossible to recite her lessons. Finally, at the age of thirteen, she has her first kiss, which ignites her curiosity to understand love, ultimately leading to the production of the present book, which details her subsequent infatuations and relationships as an adult. Typical chapters include: "cynicism, a means of seduction"; "the importance of hands"; "the taste of betrayal"; "most favourable positions to take to fall asleep to your advantage"; and "the Don Juans: the cavalry officer, the intellectual, and the car driver". An amusing rollick through turn of the century French sexuality and sensuality, which, despite outward appearances, forms not a series of lascivious vignettes, but instead provides something more introspective and curious about the power of attraction and love. The work is sometimes attributed to the author and poet Maurice Magre (1877-1941), but it is not clear as whether this is actually the case.…

Aggiungi al carrelloPas de couverture. Condizione: Très bon. F. FABIANO Nus féminins - Modèles (poses d'atelier) Ensemble de 5 dessins originaux signés et datés. Feuille 25 x 16,5 cm. Life, New York Tribune, Match, France-Soir, etc.
