Originally published in 1833 by James Ridgway, this reprint was issued without the images present in the first and looks similar to the 1833 edition by Key & Biddle, viewable on google books. Rare work. 3 copies of the Ridgway edition in worldcat, none of this edition. Fairholme was a critic of Charles Lyell and the new theories of geology because they were in his view inconsistent with scripture and scientific fact. He was a proponent of young earth creationism and of the biblical flood being responsible for the current geology of the earth.

Institutional stamp on the back of the title page and on the final blank following the index. The text is clean and unmarked. One of the numerous works written during the 19th Century in an attempt to stem the rising tide of scientific evolutionism. The author argues that no early convulsions of the earth, such as those supposed by the geologists, could have taken place because there could have been no deluge "before moral guilt could possibly have been incurred" or to say, before the creation of mankind.
