Edition originale assez rare, surtout en reliure d'époque. Cet… ouvrage est devenu classique et fut souvent réédité. Julien Fau (1811-1880) fut anatomiste, élève de Gerdy. Il avait déjà fait paraître une remarquable "Anatomie des formes extérieures du corps humain à l'usage des peintres et des sculpteurs" en 1845, puis une "Anatomie artistique élémentaire" en 1850. Edouard Cuyer (1852-1929) fut artiste peintre et dessinateur, professeur d'anatomie à l'Ecole nationale des arts décoratifs.
