Edwin Stanton Faust, Dr. phil. et med., geboren in den V.S., war Privatdozent der Pharmakologie an der Universität Strassburg. ?Er folgte 1907 dem Ruf als Ordinarius nach Würzburg. 1920 übersiedelte er in die Schweiz, wo er als Vorstand der Biologischen Abteilung der Gesells…chaft der chemische Industrie (bis 1923) und als Dozent der basler Universität wirkte. Eine Autorität auf dem Gebiete der tierischen Gifte, entdeckte er auch das Sepsin (Faust, «Über das Fäulnisgift Sepsin», 1904), wies zum erstenmal die immunisatorische Wirkung der abiureten Gifte nach, befasste sich mit der Wirkung des Morphins im tierischen Organismus und mit synthetischen Herzmitteln, besonders mit syntetischem Digitalis.?
