Black and white illustrations, mostly to the page margins, by Frank Chesworth, including full-page frontispiece illustration showing a newspaper vendor shadowy sinister-type figure with a news board to the fore, and a grim reaper style end illustration to the rear. ***Very good in moss-green cloth covered boards with gilt titles and decoration to spine and front board. Purple front and rear free endpapers and pastedowns. Fore-edge and bottom edge of text-block untrimmed (rough-cut, as called for). Corners of boards bumped. Edges of boards and head and tail of spine rubbed. Pages clean. Short, old pencil inscription on front endpaper (which can be easily erased).
