The author discusses Crosby?s artistic approach, the underlying themes in Skippy, and the ways Crosby infused the strip with emotional depth and social insight. The book situates Skippy as more than a simple children?s comic: it argues that Crosby?s creation blended fantasy and realism, giving its child protagonist a complex inner life. It also addresses Crosby?s later struggles, including financial difficulties, artistic decline, and personal challenges.
