Directed by Gustav Ucicky, and starring the acclaimed theater and film actor Otto Gebühr, this film was the third of the so-called Prussian films, to star Gebühr as Frederick th…e Great, the role for which he would become most famous. These patriotic historical dramas glorified Prussia and its military, and were produced from the 1920-1940s. Gebühr, first played the role in the first part "Fridericus Rex" (1922-1923) and continued for "The Mill at Sanssouci" (1926), and this film which was the first in sound. Incredibly the film was filmed in part on the grounds of the Sanssouci Palace itself. 1. Illustrierter Film-Kurier, No. 1572. Upaginated [6 pages]. Verlag Alfred Weiner.
