1947 hatten Alexander Mitscherlich und Fred Mielke ihre Dokumentation "Diktat der Menschenverachtung" herausgegeben, in der sie vom Nürnberger Prozeß gegen Ärzte berichteten, die in der nationalsozialistischen Zeit Verbrechen an Häftlingen und KZ-Gefangenen verübt hatten. Diese Publikation löste eine heftige Diskussion in der Ärzteschaft aus und eine Reihe von Ärzten verwahrte sich auch durch Unterlassungsklagen gegen Anschuldigungen. In der Göttinger Universitätszeitung (herausgegeben von Dozenten und Studenten) erschienen im 2. und 3.
