Aggiungi al carrelloHardback small quarto, dustjacket, very good condition (in good plus dustjacket), black & white text-photos (plates), few small holes folded edge front flap (minor insect damage repaired, minor edgewear & foxing), sticker mark front cover jacket. Heavy (1.0 Kg), and extra postage may be requested to destinations outside Australia. 401 pp. This journal of a young First Fleet marine officer Philip Gidley King describes his trip from England to Port Jackson in the First Fleet, and then his assignment to Norfolk Island, his extended stay on Norfolk Island ('marooned' together with convicts), and a trip from that island to New Zealand, where he describes the country and people. Includes a section on Maori language. Although maninly about Norfolk Island, this journal fills in the gaps about our knowledge of the daily struggles of the early colony in New South Wales. The original manuscripts are in the Mitchell Library, Sydney. King later became the third Governor of New South Wales. (No 2 in the Australian Documents Library series.).

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. 344 pp. Ralph Clark sailed from England in the 'Friendship' and remained in Sydney until his departure for Norfolk Island aboard HMS Sirius in March 1790. From there he returned to England and then embarked on the Sirius once more as part of the First Fleet. Clark's journal is a very personal document, clearly not intended for publication, and thus all the more interesting to modern historians.
