Dark brown dust jacket rubbed; a few small stains and surface scuffs to rear panel; some nicks, short tears, and creasing at edges; foxing to flaps. Light tan cloth with light spotting to spine and boards; spine heel bumped with slight fraying along head. Foxing/toning to text bl…ock edges and several initial and rear leaves; occasional light foxing spots to interior pages which overall remain clean. Binding is firm. A very good- copy in a very good- dust jacket. Pages 258-303 feature a facsimile of Jack Thorp's 1908 edition with the book's extensive text being general commentary and music for each song with sources for individual bibliographies, texts of variations, recording and manuscript lists, a cowboy word and phrase lexicon, etc.

With studied efforts, the music notations are drawn from pre-1930 sources.
