En 1953, Marlon Brando se puso una cazadora motera de cuero negro Perfecto, una gorra militar, tejanos y botas para interpretar a Johnny, el descarado líder burlón del Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, en Salvaje. En 1954, Tom of Finland prescindió del cuero marrón en su obras para crear sus propios salvajes: rebeldes musculosos, hipermasculinos, vestidos de cuero negro con motores muy potentes entre las piernas. Ese mismo año, el estilo fue adoptado por el Satyrs Motorcycle Club, el primer club de rebeldes gay, e hizo realidad el mundo de fantasía de Tom. Como no podía ser de otro modo al tratarse de Tom, este pronto adaptó sus nuevos iconos gay añadiendo gorras y pantalones de montar de cuero, botas hasta la rodilla y la marca ?Tom? en el depósito de gasolina de todas las motos.Los moteros de Tom aparecieron por primera vez como dos Motorcycle Boys en Physique Pictorial en invierno de 1958. Otro apareció en la portada de la edición de abril de 1960. A partir de ese momento, los moteros fueron los protagonistas de su contenido, un guiño a sus lectores estadounidenses y una muestra de su crecie. LIBRO.
