Cloth. Condizione: Very Good Indeed. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. First edition. A first edition, first impression of this historical survey of the urban community of Hanuabada, by anthropologist Cyril Belshaw. The first edition, first impression of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Cyril Shirley Belshaw (1921-2018) was a Canadian anthropologist. This work, the third book in a series of monographs Belshaw wrote on social economics in Melanesia, was based on research conducted while living with his family on the outskirts of Hanuabada from 1950 to 1951. Belshaw's wife Betty learned the language and connected with women of the community. Belshaw relied on the help of male English-speaking informants such as Ranu Nihara and Osineru Dickson. Research data was obtained through discussions in homes and normal village activities. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally cloth is very bright and smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with spotting to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. Dust wrapper is mostly smart, though a little spotted to the rear of the wrap. Very Good Indeed. Not Stated (illustratore). book.
