Collection of ten vintage promotional cards advertising musical performances at the Venetian Room at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, circa 1957-1961 Included here are cards advertising Eartha Kitt, Cab Calloway, Diahann Carroll, Ella Fitzgerald, Mills Brothers, Nat King Cole, Billy Eckstine, Sammy Davis Jr., Dorothy Dandridge, and others. Notable is the recurring presence of Ernie Hecksher and his Orchestra, who maintained frequent residencies at the Venetian during this period. Tony Bennett's first performance of "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" was performed at the Venetian Room in 1961. The venue hosted a veritable who's who of pop and jazz performers throughout the mid- and late-twentieth century, many of whom are featured here. Cards generally 6.75 x 3.5 inches. Very Good plus, lightly and evenly toned.
