Aggiungi al carrelloFirst edition, first printing. Signed by the author of the introduction. Original burgundy cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Burgundy satin ribbon marker. A fine copy, the binding square and tight, the contents clean and bright throughout and without previous owners' stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the v…ery near fine dustwrapper that has a little dustiness at the extremities. A lovely copy of a scarce title. Signed by Owen Dudley Edwards, Honorary President of the Arthur Conan Doyle Society, on the title page. A previously unpublished, early story by Arthur Conan Doyle that was submitted to Blackwood's Magazine in Edinburgh in the late 1870s. Blackwood's never published it and Doyle seemingly believed it to be lost. The manuscript was rediscovered when the archives of Blackwood's were presented to The National Library of Scotland in 1942, yet it remained unpublished until this first and only edition was issued by the Arthur Conan Doyle Society in 2000. Conan Doyle evidently never forgot 'The Haunted Grange of Goresthorpe' or the loss of the manuscript; he reused the name 'Goresthorpe Grange' in the 1883 story 'Selecting a Ghost', and every future submission he made to Blackwood's Magazine was accompanied by a plea to return the manuscript in the event of rejection, sometimes with postage stamps included. 500 copies of this first edition were issued on the 1st of December, 2000.
