The labels are in a contrasting green leather with title in gilt. Top edge gilt, other edges rough cut. Both volumes are sunned to the spine. There is bumping to the foot of the spines which are rubbed with some surface loss. There is a visible repair to a split at the head of the spine of vol 1 and a small chip. (pictures available). The binding design matches that of the 1911 Chapman & Hall London edition save for the change to Lippincott in lieu of Chapman at the base of the cloth spines.
