Due frontespizi stampati in rosso e nero con vignette xilografiche raffiguranti Minerva in armi. Capilettera elegantemente incisi su fondo nero. Bella legatura coeva di manifattura olandese in piena pergamena rigida dorata, piatti inquadrati da una doppia cornice con roulettes fogliacee dorate che incorniciano il grande stemma della città da Amsterdam al centro di entrambi i piatti. Tracce di laccetti in seta verde. Autore e titolo manoscritti sul dorso riccamente ornato da fregi dorati. Minima fenditura ad alla cerniera anteriore ma esemplare in ottimo stato di conservazione. Prima edizione di questa che è una delle migliori edizioni della collezione "cum autori notis variorum". Lo stemma della città di Amsterdam ci indica un libro donato da un laureato della città di illustre famiglia. Questa edizione delle opere di Cesare include i preziosi commenti di Dionysius Vossius, John Davis e Samuel Clarke. L'impressione e' doppiamente notevole, sia per ricchezza e bellezza del corpus iconografico e tipografico sia per il rigore filologico dei criteri editoriali. Nell'edizione e' presente anche, alle pp. 458-516 del primo vol., il proseguimento del "De Bello Gallico" steso da Aulo Irzio, il luogotenente di Cesare in Gallia. Le tavole raffigurano: carte geografiche (Gallia, Impero Romano e Spagna), accampamenti militari, il ponte costruito da Cesare per attraversare il Reno, Alesia, l' oppidum di 'Uxelludonum, etc. Il testo fu il risultato dell' impegnato lavoro dello studioso classico olandese Franciscus Oudendorp (1696-1761), l'ultimo dei grandi latinisti del suo tempo, e immediatamente eclissò tutte le edizioni precedenti divenento la fondamentale edizione del "De Bello Gallico" con cui confrontarsi per ogni edizione successiva ed anche correggere le precedenti.
