Couverture souple. Condizione: Très bon. Poids: 450gr .Le docteur Francken avait de la santé une conception globale. L'homme doit être en harmonie avec lui-même et avec la nature. Le ressort moral est essentiel dans le processus de guérison ainsi qu'une vie saine. Mettre ces principes en pratique, c'est ce qu'a fait M. Francken:… lutter contre la tuberculose et les conditions qui l'engendraient (il créa en 1921 le Pavillon de La Cote, qu'il dirigea pendant quarante ans); promouvoir le cidre doux et les jus de fruits pour prévenir l'alcoolisme (il fit fermer des cafés); mettre en oeuvre une prévention générale pour la jeunesse avec des cures de soleil (il fut pendant quarante-cinq ans médecin des écoles); dénoncer les atteintes à la nature (il prit position pour la sauvegarde du Bois-de-Chêne, menacé dans les années 1950 d'être transformé en place d'armes). Le docteur Francken et sa femme Loly s'engagèrent passionnément dans leur siècle, n'hésitant pas, par exemple, à prendre en charge des enfants pendant la Première Guerre et à en adopter deux, Paul et Jean; à transformer leur chalet a Novel en dispensaire et refuge pour les Juifs fuyant les persécutions durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Toute la vie du docteur Francken et de sa compagne s'est enracinée dans la foi chrétienne. «Dieu te prête vie, rends-la belle», telle fut leur devise, comme un phare qui guida leur bateau à bon port; non que le cap fut toujours bien tenu, ou que les récifs n'aient jamais menacé l'embarcation, mais la traversée fut belle.
