Gesamthaft relativ sauberes, recht ordentliches Exemplar. - - Erstmals 1840, digitalis. in BVB - Diese Auflage nicht im KVK, und nicht zu verwechseln mit dem sehr ähnlichen, jedoch nicht identischen Titel mit dem Zusatz 'und bei Besuchung der Stationen' von Kaplan G. [Georg] Höfling (Lohr, zu haben bei Buchbinder Jak. Wilh. Hart 1841, 66 SS.; vgl. BVB) - Die Abbildungen (je ca. 7.5 x 5 cm) erinnern in ihrer stilistisch etwas archaischen, statischen und stark stilisiert-reduzierten Darstellung an einschlägige volkskundliche Bildwerke v.a. des frühen 19. Jahrhunderts wie Ex Voto und Heiligen- oder Hinterglasbilder. Die Druckstöcke sind weitestgehend intakt und ohne nennenswerte Ausbrüche, die Abzüge bemerkenswert kräftig. - Spätestens mit der 5. Auflage von 1855 und bis mindestens zur 9. Aufl. 1870 wurden andere, quasi zeittypischere Illustrationen verwendet; ab spätestens der 16. Aufl. von 1890 wurden dann Darstellungen gedruckt, die an die Arbeiten der Nazarener angelehnt waren (vgl. Digitalisate in BVB). - "Vorbereitungs-Gebet : Ich armer Sünder will jetzt das bittere Leiden und Sterben meines Herrn und Erlösers betrachten. Gib mir dazu, o Gott, deine Gnade, und stärke mich, daß ich die unendliche Liebe Jesu beherzigen, meine Sünden aufrichtig bereuen, und mein Leben ernsthaft bessern könne." (p. 3). - Zu jeder Station wird das Kreuzwegbild mit Titel, sowie je eine Betrachtung und ein Gebet gegeben. - In Anbetracht der zahlreichen Auflagen bis 1906 (21.-25. Tsd., München, Manz, 32 SS.) und 1932 (51.-55. Tsd., Regensburg, Vorm. G. J. Manz, 32 SS.; vgl. BVB u. hebis VK) ungewöhnlich seltenes Passions-, Fastenzeit- u. Kreuzweg-Andachtsbüchlein. Es könnte dies auf einen ausgeprägt regionalen Gebrauch in Bayern, allenfalls im Bistum Passau zurückzuführen sein, was auch die Konzentration im KVK auf den Bibliotheksverbund Bayern BVB erklären würde. -- Franz Xaver Schmid (Hengersberg, Niederbayern 1800-1871 Haslach b. Traunstein), Priester 1823, Domkapitular zu Passau, 1852-1871 Pfarrer von Traunstein (s. Traunsteiner Tagblatt: Chiemgauer Blätter, Jg. 2020, H. 14). - Gemäss DDB hat dieser seinerzeitige Domkapitular um 1832-1840 eine Reihe liturgischer Werke publiziert, die den Begriff 'christkatholisch' im Titel führen, wie z.B. eine dreibändige 'Liturgik der christkatholischen Religion' (Passau, Ambrosius Ambrosi 1832-1833) u. einen 'Grundriß der Liturgik der christkatholischen Religion' (Passau, Friedr. Winkler 1836. Schmid meint damit lediglich '(römisch-) katholisch', wie aus seinen Äusserungen hervorgeht: "Gegenwärtiges Werk trägt den Namen 'Grundriß der Liturgik der christkatholischen Religion', hat also nur die Liturgie der katholischen Kirche zu behandeln" (1836, p. 13). Es ist nicht anzunehmen, dass der Autor sich auf den bereits im österr. Josephinismus verwendeten Begriff bezieht. Jedenfalls bietet seine Vita keinen entsprechenden Anhaltspunkt (vgl.
