Small (3.25 x 6") paper covers with 48 color plates (2 per page) which fold out in an accordion fold. In good+ condition. Glossy pictorial paper covers have a few small nicks to the edges and light bumping to edges and creasin…g to corners. Light overall scuffing to covers with the color scuffed off along the edges and in a few spots along the back cover near the spine. Interior photos are in very good condition with no tears or creasing. Each flower is described on the back of each card. English and Latin names are listed first; then follow the German, French and Italian equivalents in that order. Wonderful colour photos by Fratelli Zardini - Cortina. Back cover lists only 4 of the Zig-Zag books available at the time, included Alpine flowers 1, Alpine Flowers:2, Fungi, and Minerals. A very early, if not first edition. Overall, a lovely little zig-zag book. [From inside of back cover] In planning this colour series on subjects of common interest (each book contains 48 separate colour studies with definitions), the compilers have aimed not only to provide simple and useful guides to indentification, but also to reveal something of the fascination which attracts the enthusiast. To this end a quite exceptional standard of colour reproduction has been maintained throughout - a standard not normally found outside expensive textbooks.
