These are in addition to the 10 plates that were a part of the original publication. 8vo. 22.5 by 15 cm. With half-title, 10 plates, numerous in-text illustrations. Leech, among his many accomplishments, was the first illustrator of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", and so it is fitting that Kitton, his biographer, was also an illustrator of Dickens' works and an author of numerous works about Dickens and DIckens' other illustrators. Condition: Some spotting on the morocco cover, and a touch of darkening or staining on the upper edge of the rear cover. Some scattered foxing, occasionally heavier -- all relating to the particular plate and its chemical vulnerability to such. A few small chips as well. Overall a very handsome, and special, copy of this work.
