He was responsible for preserving and recording a great many…dialects, as well as folk-tales and songs at the beginning of the 20th Century, as well as encouraging work by others through his involvement with the society. The special issue of the journal includes the memoir by Ackerley as well as memories of Macfie by his friends, a bibliographical list of his writings and two black and white photographs. Memoir of R.
