This English translation by Friberg is the first by a native-born Finn. The Kalevala is a 19th-century compilation of epic poetry. It is derived from a combination of Finnish, Karelian, and Ingrian folklore and mythology. This copy is very good to near fine. The jacket is only very good. It has several closed tears, and creasing, mainly along the top of the rear panel. The jacket is now protected from further damage with a Brodart cover.
