Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Ben W. Warden (illustratore). 1st Edition. Hardcover, no dust jacket as issued. These copies (we have two) were discovered still in their original sealed shipping container. They are as close to "as-new" as you will ever find a copy of this book available for. The book is clean and bright, never read, never used, never even placed on a store shelf. The titles on the spines show almost no white paint, of which this book is notorious for. It now appears this is not because the paint had flaked off over time, but instead the lack of quality control by the publisher - as these books were pulled out of the box this way, with no paint chip or residue seen in the box. This copy also has a very small tear in the bottom edge of the front board and some light smudge marks - all of which were like this when we pulled it out of the original packaging. See photos.

Aggiungi al carrelloOctavo,440 pp.,colour illustrations, softcover. Global environmental change (including climate change, biodiversity loss, changes in hydrological and biogeochemical cycles, and intensive exploitation of natural resources) is having significant impacts on the world's oceans. This book advances knowledge of the structure and functioning of marine ecosystems, and their past, present, and future responses to physical and anthropogenic forcing. It illustrates how climate and humans impact marine ecosystems, providing a comprehensive review of the physical and ecological processes that structure marine ecosystems as well as the observation, experimentation, and modelling approaches required for their study. Recognizing the interactive roles played by humans in using marine resources and in responding to global changes in marine systems, the book includes chapters on the human dimensions of marine ecosystem changes and on effective management approaches in this era of rapid change. A final section reviews the state of the art in predicting the responses of marine ecosystems to future global change scenarios with the intention of informing both future research agendas and marine management policy. This book provides a detailed synthesis of the work conducted under the auspices of the Global Ocean Ecosystems Dynamics (GLOBEC) programme. This research spans two decades, and represents the largest, multi-disciplinary, international effort focused on understanding the impacts of external forcing on the structure and dynamics of global marine ecosystems. Magazine. 32p., including covers, 5.5x8.5 inches, very good digest size magazine in stapled pictorial wraps. Cover story: "The Ambiguous Heroes of John Horne Burns" by Daniel H. Edgerton. Also: "I Missed You" a poem by Joyce Field. "Leopard On a Spot" by Dan Martin. Editorial recollection of the beginning of ONE at the Dalton Street House at 27th in West Los Angeles with accompanying photo. One, Inc., which took its name from Thomas Carlyle's statement that "A mystic bond of brotherhood makes all men one," was founded in LA in 1952 as a homophile organization with connections to the Mattachine Society. As the first pro-gay journal of its kind, it serves as an important source for pre-Stonewall homophile studies. In 1954 the US Post Office declared it obscene, leading to a four-year legal battle (chronicled in its pages) that concluded with a favorable decision as part of Roth vs. United States. Aside from its articles covering topics ranging from the Beatniks and Gay marriage to homosexuality and national security, One Magazine also featured poetry and short fiction by numerous prominent authors.
