This volume 2 of the Dynastidae of the World deals with the Nearctic and Neotropical regions, in other words, the New World. The reference book on the Dynastidae is the book by S. Un remarquable exposé du genre, abondamment illustré. Après un historique du genre Oryctes, agrémenté d'illustrations provenant d'ouvrages anciens, le genre est exposé en détail. Les cartes de répartition en couleurs montrent la dispersion des espèces. Pour comprendre les différences entre les espèces des dessins de détails anat…omiques (tête, pygidium) mais aussi les genitalias sont représentés. L'illustration est abondante et particulièrement soignée, la plupart des insectes sont figurés de dos mais également de 3/4 pour bien voir les détails des protubérances thoraciques et les différentes cornes. A la fin de l'ouvrage 3 planches regroupent tous les insectes à leur grandeur naturelle, permettant ainsi au lecteur de mieux se rendre compte des variations.
