Softcover Wraps. Condizione: Poor. Reprint. No publication date given but probably a mid-19th century reprint of a play originally published in this translation in the early 19th century. This copy has no covers and the text block is split into two sections. The frontispiece has some tearing to the edges but the binding of the r…emaining pages is reasonably secure however. This copy has been used for a performance with the pages marked up in ink in a number of places. There is also a small ink stain affecting pages 16 and 17. The pages are browned with some edge wear and one inch tear to the edge of the final page. Frontispiece by G.W. Bonner from a drawing by R. Cruikshank. Spine darkened and slightly worn, upper hinge broken, lower hinge weak, front free endpaper slightly torn, some foxing of text, but images clean. 36 plates, complete but not all in order, 32 each with nine vignette views, four with six, making not…320 but 312 altogether (an odd miscalculation?): and in Great Britain, indeed, but all in southern England. "The Views in this complete Series are admitted to be, without exception, the prettiest as well as the most faithful delineations of the places they represent, and are quite gems of art as Illustrative Engravings." George Wilmot Bonner (1796-1836), a neat engraver in the style of Bewick, did not long outlive publication.
