Doch die 'Drei Romanzen' op. 94 für Oboe, die Ende desselben Jahres entstanden, kamen seinerzeit auch jeweils mit einer Solostimme… für Klarinette und für Violine auf den Markt. Klarinettisten sind sicher erfreut darüber, dass der G. Henle Verlag der Idee der Alternativbesetzung folgt. Das Manuskript, das Robert seiner Frau Clara 1849 als Weihnachtsgeschenk überreichte, ist nicht erhalten. Dafür konnten für die Urtextausgabe autographe Entwürfe herangezogen werden, die so manche Unstimmigkeit der Erstausgabe von 1851 richtigstellen. Vorwort und Bemerkungen der Herausgeber geben über die Quellen und Textfragen ausführlich Auskunft.
