Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Good. 1st Edition. Charles St John's Note Books, 1846-1853: Invererne, Nairn, Elgin, published in Edinburgh by David Douglas in 1901 and edited by Admiral H. C. St John, presents selections from the private field notes of the Scottish naturalist and sportsman Charles William George St. John. Written during the last years of his life in the north east of Scotland, the notebooks record observations of wildlife, landscape and rural life around Invererne, Nairn and Elgin. The entries describe the habits of birds and animals, local weather and sporting excursions, offering a vivid glimpse of nineteenth century Highland natural history. Published long after the author's death, the work complements St John's well known Wild Sports and Natural History of the Highlands and remains an appealing record of Scottish wildlife and countryside life. Charles St John's Note Books, 1846-1853, Invererne, Nairn, Elgin. Edited by Admiral H.C. St John. The title refers to the Moray Firth district around Nairn, historically known as Invererne, where St John lived during the 1840s while recording his observations of Highland wildlife and rural life. Published by David Douglas, Edinburgh. 1901 first edition. A good dark green cloth hardback with gilt shield to front and titles to spine. Softcover. Condizione: As New. First Edition. First Edition Thus. Uber-scarce in the trade, there being no sets in this state and condition. An As New condition set of the life and works of William Colenso, complete in two volumes, published in 2011 and 2012 in a First Paperback Edition state, each being sterling exemplars in softcover format, with unfurled tips, tight bindings, and clean internals, showing only very slight shelf- and edge-wear to the glossy pictorial card-stock wraps. From a publisher's blurb comes "In his more than 200 letters to editors, Colenso wrote mostly for local Hawke's Bay readers. But he was a national celebrity for his opinions, as the clippings from papers outside the Bay scattered through this collection and his widely published obituary notices demonstrate. One correspondent to the Wanganui Herald in January 1882, similarly sympathetic to the plight of Maori, tellingly signed himself, 'COLENSO'S GHOST.' The letters reproduced in this book are all that can be found at present. As well, some other newspaper items have been included if they threw light on the more obscure letters." Give Your Thoughts Life 2011 features a Table of Contents that shows: Introduction; Letters 1847-1859; Letters 1860-1869; Letters 1870-1879; Letters 1880-1889; Letters 1890-1898; The Final Chapter; Index of Letters; [10], 11-497 pp. and with full notes, bibliography and index. William Colenso: his life and journeys (2012), based upon the 1948 biography of him by A.G. Bagnall and G.C. Petersen, [8], 9-510 pp. and with similar notes, bibliography and index.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Aggiungi al carrelloCondizione: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Neurodegenerative disorders are common and devastating. Rationally, the most effective treatments will target pathogenetic mechanisms. While alternative - proaches, based on alleviating the symptoms of patients with Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, Huntington disease, prion disorders or amyotrophic lateral sc- rosis, can be expected to reduce suffering, studies of pathogenesis of these a- related disorders will be most important for enabling early diagnosis and the creation of preventative and curative treatments. It is in this context that a recent IPSEN rd meeting (The 23 Colloque Medecine ¿ et Recherche, April 28, 2008) focused on a role for disruption of intracellular traf?cking in neurodegenerative disorders. The meeting captured emerging insights into pathogenesis from disrupted traf?cking and processing of proteins implicated in age-related degeneration. Protein folding, traf?cking and signaling were the principal topics covered at the meeting. Importantly, the presenters pointed to the importantly intersection of these themes. While the proteolytic processing of APP into its toxic product, the A? peptide, is an intensive focus of work in many laboratories, it is only relatively recently that investigators have begun to examine in depth the cellular compartments and traf?cking events that mediate APP processing and how derangement of tr- ?cking pathways could impact them.
