Freiraumplanung bemüht sich auf allen für den Siedlungsbereich wichtigen Ebenen der räumlichen Planung auch um ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis von Siedlungsflächen und Freiräumen. Ihre gesetzliche Aufgabe wird durch die Ziele der Raumordnung und der Bauleitplanung unter Berücksichtigung des Natur- und Umweltschutzes begründet. Eine immer größere Bedeutung kommt auch dem Bereich der Renaturierung zu. So werden vielerorts vorherige Gewässerbegradigungen und Deichbauten zurückgebaut. Dies dient sowohl der Wiederbelebung und Bereicherung des lokalen Ökosystems als auch dem Schutz vor Überflutung in bewohnten Gebieten, was wiederum durch die Festlegung geeigneter Retentionsflächen erreicht wird. Historisch beruht die Landschaftsarchitektur auf der städtischen Grünplanung (künstlerischer Städtebau und rationalistische Stadtplanung) und der regionalen Landschaftsentwicklung (Landesverschönerung und Landschaftsplanung). Im Unterschied zur Architektur sind die raumbildenden Elemente der Landschaftsarchitektur Pflanzen, Beläge, Oberflächen, Hecken, Mauern etc. sowie topographische Modellierungen. Terrassierungen, neu geschaffene Rondelle zur Staffage mit Treppenaufgängen gehören ebenfalls hierzu. Landschaftsarchitektonische Räume verändern sich durch den Einsatz von dynamischer Vegetation ständig und sind im Gegensatz zu architektonischen Räumen nie 'fertig' oder in ihrer Entwicklung abgeschlossen." Or would make a great gift for the fan / reader in your life. This is NOT a mass market paperback, or mass produced book. About the author excerpted from wikipedia: Weinbrenner began life apprenticed to his father, a carpenter. He worked as a builder in Zurich and Lausanne beginning in 1788. He arrived in Vienna in 1790 and began his study of architecture, largely self-taught. In 1790-91 he studied at the Bauakademien of Vienna and Dresden, then, in 1791/92, spent several months in Berlin where he was exposed to Palladian architecture. Carl Gotthard Langhans (1732 to 1808), David Gilly (from 1748 to 1808) and Hans Christian Genelli (1763 to 1823) were influential in the formation of Weinbrenner's architectural thought. He spent the years 1792 to 1797 in Italy, where he was part of the circle around Carl Ludwig Fernow (1763 to 1808) in Rome. His study of the ancient buildings of Rome, Pompeii, Herculaneum and, especially, Paestum were foundational to his later work. He was among the first German architects to see the early Doric buildings at Paestum. Upon returning from Italy Weinbrenner worked briefly in Strasbourg and Hanover, but established himself in Karlsruhe, where he would make his career as the official architect, working for both government and private clients. Karlsruhe was created in 1715 to replace a former capital and become the capital of the newly created Grand Duchy of Baden ; now a central German state but then a sovereign principality. A generation of architects were trained under his supervision, and in 1825 he helped establish the Polytechnic School in Karlsruhe. With the architects he trained and the publication of his work, a Weinbrenner style of Classicism developed. Weinbrenner is, of course, the architect principally responsible for creating Karlsruhe as a Classical city and, beginning with his 1797 General Plan, for the development of the city plan with an official Protestant church (Stadtkirche) (1807-15), City Hall (1821-25) on the Triumphal Road leading to the Princely palace. Most of Weinbrenner's buildings were reconstructed in the 1950's following their destruction in the Second World War. Buildings in Karlsruhe. Illustrated with b/w Illustrations (illustratore). Book.

A very long and comprehensive letter to Franz von Pfistermeister, cabinet secretary to Ludwig II of Bavaria, on preliminary works for a Festival Theatre for Wagner in Munich. The project was pursued for a few years but ultimately not realised. Ludwig decided to build the theatre in Weimar instead of Mu…nich; nevertheless, Semper's original drafts were used (albeit without the architect's permission). In his letter, Semper gives a very detailed account of the central position of the orchestra, the stage, and the auditorium. He refers to Wagner, with whom he had discussed the project, and his ideas for interior designs. - The foundation stone of the Weimar Festival Theatre was laid on Wagner's birthday in May 1872; construction was realised under the German architect Otto Brückwald, and the building first opened for the premiere of the complete four-opera cycle of "Der Ring des Nibelungen" (13-17 August 1876). One year later Wagner wrote to Semper: "The theatre, though crude and artless, is executed according to your drafts" (cf. Hermann Sturm, Alltag & Kult, Basel 2003, p. 109f.). - Somewhat browned and spotty; fol. 1 nearly torn in the centerfold, small tears and slight ruststains.
