One of the leaders of the revival of wood-engraving in the 1920s, Irish artist and author Robert Gibbings was director of the Golden Cockerel Press for nine years. The first part of the volume is a descriptive bibliography of the sixty-seven books illustrated by Gibbings; and the second lists his work as artist, writer, printer and publisher in chronological order, and also records some publications containing references to his work. There is a note on the printing methods of the Golden Cockerel Press, contributed by A. C. Cooper who was pressman throughout the period of Gibbings' direction. Written by A.
