Hardcover. Condizione: Good. TWELVE VOLUME SET, a full set is 14 volumes, this set has 12 volumes dating from 1910 to 1959. Volume XI XII/I is a Sutton 1984 reprint which is a smaller version in reduced format of a 4 pages per page in smaller print in hardcover. All volumes are water stained, some more than others and affecting the boards. Volumes 1 to 7 have some foxing to the first and last few pages. Volume 2 back inside hinge cracked and holding firm. volume 3 front & back inside hinge cracked and holding firm. All volumes have previous owner's bookplate on front inside board except vol XI XII/I. The photos are of the most stained volumes and are vol 8 staining on the back, vols 1,2,3,4 have staining on the front and back. Our website shows the postage options and costs. 196 pages. There are numerous coloured plates of water colour sketches by Margaret Waterfield in generally excellent clean bright condition. Unusually the text pages have very little sign of foxing. The plain end papers have the usual browning. Some marks to the boards. The gold on the front board and spine are clear and distinct with some dulling to spine. The board have some small marks and the corners are lightly bumped. T.e.g. Deckle edges. The bottom right of the rear board is stained with some marks on the rear pastedown and the rear free end paper. There is a small amount of damage to the bottom corner of the last page of the index. In other respects the book is very good. In addition the book has an iteresting dedication on the front pastedown - from Margaret april 1905. Unfrotunately I do not have an example of margaret Waterfield's handwriting to check whether this is her signature. This would be an intersting research project. Size: 8" - 10.5" Tall. Known as "Vinegar" Gibbs for his sour rhetoric, this knighted (1805) English jurisprudence figure was a barrister, member of Parliament for Great Bedwyn, attorney general and privy counsellor.
