Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. A thorough examination of horse-drawn carriages in Victorian England, this book traces the evolution of these vehicles from their early, cumbersome designs to the lighter, more graceful carriages of the period. The introduction of the railway in the mid-1800s caused upheaval in the carriage trade, leading to a decline in demand for coaches and an increase in demand for smaller, more practical vehicles. The author examines the various types of carriages that emerged during this time, including the Brougham, Landau, and Victoria, and discusses the societal factors that influenced their design and use. Through detailed descriptions and historical context, this book provides a fascinating glimpse into the development of a key aspect of Victorian culture and an essential tool for understanding the era. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
