It is considered a valuable source of information on Italian culture and intellectual life in the 16th century. Mors fracturé en sa partie supérieure sur 5 cm. Coiffe à même la tranchefile. Intérieur plutôt frais, rarissimes rousseurs, inscription manuscrite pour porter le nom des différents ouvrages en page de garde avant, légères mouillures sans gravité sur les 10 premières pages, sans dommage pour le texte. Nombreux soulignages et accolades très anciens au crayon de couleur ocre sur le dernier ouvrage. L'intégrité du texte est cependant conservée et il reste tout à fait lisible. Edition réalisée par les successeurs d'Alde Manuce (Aldus) à Venise en 1534, copiée sur l'édition originale de 1517 (Brunet, Manuel du libraire, p 359.) La marque typographique, caractéristique de l'éditeur, présentant un dauphin qui s'enroule autour d'une ancre, est bien présente sur la dernière page du texte. La date de 1534 est reprise à l'avant dernière page du texte. La page de titre a été supprimée pour les besoins de la reliure selon toute vraisemblance. Complet par ailleurs. Les Annales de l'imprimerie des Alde, par Antoine Augustin Renouard, publiées en 1834 donnent les détails suivant : « 79 feuillets et un blanc ayant l'ancre. Copie de l'édition de 1517 avec la même préface ». Notre exemplaire présente exactement les mêmes caractéristiques. Il s'agit d'un recueil de 80 priapées, ou épigrammes consacrées au dieu de la fertilité Priape. Elles parurent pour la première fois dans l'édition des oeuvres de Virgile donnée par Alde Manuce en 1517, qui les publia d'après le codex "correttissimo" qui était en possession de Pietro Bembo; elles sont accompagnées de divers poèmes de Virgile ou pseudo-virgilien.
