Umschlag leicht berieben, sonst gutes Exemplar. - Am Beispiel eines Schmuckstückes-des Ohrrings-werden die verschiedenen Bereiche volkskundlichen Sammeins und Forschens vorgeführt und in verschiedenen Aspekten analysiert. Die Abteilung "Ohrringein der Tracht" entspricht dem traditionelle…n Arbeitsgebiet der Volkskunde: der Volkskultur des ländlichen Raums. Auch der Männerohrring läßt sich dem volkskundlichen Kanon zuordnen. Die bürgerlich-städtischen Ohrringe und die modischen Ohrringe der heutigen Jugendkultur in den beiden übrigen Abteilungen der Ausstellung belegen die Hinwendung der Volkskunde und des Museums für Deutsche Volkskunde zu neuen Sammlungsgebieten, bei denen die gesammelten Objekte wichtige Zeugnisse darstellen, mit deren Hilfe unter Hinzuziehung weiterer Quellen Alltagskultur untersucht werden kann. So sind auch die Ohrringe nicht als mehr oder weniger kostbare und schöne Schmuckstücke ausgestellt, sondern als Dokumente historischer und gegenwärtiger Lebensumstände. Der Katalog ist gleichzeitig ein Bestandskatalog der Ohrringsammlung des Museums für Deutsche Volkskunde. Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen sind die 144 Ohrringe des Altbestands im Katalog beschrieben und abgebildet. Der Katalog enthält außerdem zahlreiche Neuerwerbungen dieses Jahres, die für die Ausstellung getätigt wurden. Systematisch wurden bisher nur die 189 volkstümlichen Fingerringe 1964 von Justus Kutschmann veröffentlicht. Mit diesem Katalog liegt nun auch der Komplex der Ohrringe aus der insgesamt knapp 1000 Stücke enthaltenden Schmucksammlung vor. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 1000.
