The colouring is contemporary and is delicate and most pleasing, as were the all the products of his Driffield workshop. A plate produced for "Les Oiseaux Gibier", by H de la Blanchère, Edited par J Rothschild, 1876, from woodblocks by Fawcett of Driffield, originally drawn for "British Game Birds and Wildfowl" by Beverley R Morris, first published in 1855. This plate has never been bound into a volume, probably originating from Fawcett's original stock. An unusual Benjamin Fawcett association item - no reference to the plates appears in McLean's Fawcett bibliography. Scan sent on request. The print shows the Golden Plover in its winter and summer plumage.
