In a very good condition. A very nice copy. ~ FIRST EDITION. SIGNED BY AUTHOR. Dr. Marinus Willem Clemens (sometimes quoted as Clement) Gori, (1834-1890). Gori was Medical Officer in the Dutch Army, wrote extensively on the subject and became later a university lecturer. He studied ophthalmology, writing his doctoral thesis "Contribution for New Hospital Hygiene". In 1870 he left the military and became ophthalmologist but remained active in the area of military medicine, surgery and hygiene. He was often commissioned by the Dutch government to attend world exhibitions and congresses on the subject, mostly as Head of Delegate, and submit his reports. The present title is such a report on two major world exhibitions on military surgery held in 1876 in Philadelphia and in Bruxelles. This copy was in the past in the collection of a military institution and is adorned with old small shelf tickets on cover and spine, small label inside back cover and old military institutional stamps to title-page.
