An exhaustive survey of poster design, starting with Assyrian wall panels and archaeological examples, covering the principles of proportion, perspective, scale, ?symmetry, visual rhythms, the use of colour, typefaces, all in relation to modern (inter-war) graphic design and advertisement art, with many examples tinged with Art Nouveau and Art Deco influence. Many of the tip-ins reproduce posters from throughout Europe covering a wide variety of events, products and services, and their colors remain vibrant. Very mild age-toning around the edges of the covers, with only a touch of finger-soiling; spine lightly soiled and very lightly faded.
