    Reizendes und prachtvoll gebundenes Ansichtenwerk, ein Musterbeispiel romantischer Heidelberg-Verehrung. Nach der Neugründung der Universität 1803 erlebte Heidelberg eine zweite Blütezeit und zog Studenten und junge Künstler aus ganz Deutschland an. Sie beschrieben das zerstörte Schloss als Sinnbild deutscher Geschichte und verewigten den Bau in ihren Gemälden, romantischen Geschichten oder Versen. Die bekanntesten Namen aus der Zeit sind Carl Philipp Fohr, Karl Rottmann, Ernst Fries, Achim von Arnim, Clemens Brentano, Friedrich Hölderlin und Joseph von Eichendorff. Auch Johann Wolfgang von Goethe schwärmte in seinen Tagebüchern, Aufzeichnungen und Skizzen von der Ruine, der Stadt und der Landschaft. "Der französische Adelige Charles de Graimberg kam am 4. Oktober 1810 zum Zeichnen nach Heidelberg. Die Stadt und das Schloss in ihrer einzigartigen Lage im Neckartal und die historische Bedeutung der Ruine faszinierten ihn derart, daß er sein Lebenswerk auf die Schloßruine ausrichtete und in Heidelberg ansässig wurde. Aus dieser Begeisterung heraus legte er den Grundstein zu einem Kupferstich-Unternehmen, mit dem er die in seinen Augen schönste Ruine Europas auch für kommende Generationen erhalten und ihr Ansehen sowie ihren Bekanntheitsgrad steigern wollte. [Damit] dokumentiert er ihren Zustand in seiner Zeit und legt den Grundstein für die Schloßromantik, die schließlich die Ruine vor dem endgültigen Zerfall bewahren sollte" (A.-M. Roth, Graimberg, 1999 zitiert nach Kurpfälz. Museum). Das Schloss wird ausführlich in allen Details dokumentiert. auch in Gesamtansichten mit und ohne Blick auf die Stadt sowie vor und nach der Zerstörung. Weitere Ansichten zeigen die Umgebung, Baden, Schwetzingen, Neckarsteinach u. a. sowie zahlreiche malerische Rheinansichten wie den Mäuseturm, die Burgruine Ehrenfels, Bacharach, St. Goar, Rüdesheim und Bingen. Ein Titel ist offenbar nicht erschienen, die Anzahl der Tafeln schwankt in den verschied. Exemplaren zwischen 48 und 72 Tafeln. Eine so umfangreiche Sammlung mit 120 Ansichten dazu noch altkoloriert war mir bis dato nicht bekannt. Das Badische Privileg (in dt. u. französ.) ist 1821 datiert; die Vorlagen entstanden zwischen 1811 und 1824 (so datiert), teilw. auch bez.: 'mis en perspective par T. A. Leger'; Drucker (und Lithograph?) war Langlume in Paris, der auch verschiedentlich in den Bildunterschriften genannt wird. Alle Tafeln mit zweisprachiger Legende unter der Darstellung. Einige Tafeln in Band 1 oben mit dem Vermerk "2.e Edition". Alle Tafeln mit den Hemdchen. Verso unterschiedlich fleckig oder gebräunt, jedoch selten auf die Vorderseite durchschlagend.
