Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. The green cover has black titles and stamped black and red decorative pictures of a train, plane and a ship; the spine titles are in black. The corners are bumped and worn as are the edges, there is a 2" rip to the spine on the front edge and there is a tear at the top of the spine at rear edge of 1". The end papers are decorated in red and tan with a modern city in the back ground and a covered wagon in the fore ground, with a property of Topsfield, Mass. Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Very good condition textured linen aqua blue boards with black and orange front cover decoration/illustration and black front cover and spine lettering. Includes Introduction and The Little Dictionary. Illustrated throughout the volume with multi-colored drawings plus two-color illustrated front and rear endpapers. The inner front board contains a difficult to see 1 1/2 inch oval stamp entitled: "Marcus Rock Public School Date 34" (1934). The copyright page contains a vintage previous owner/student name and address (693 East 24th Street) with some ink marks at the lower section with a few spots bleeding onto the adjacent Introduction page. All other pages are in fine unmarked condition and the spine/binding is tight and square (see photographs). "Purpose Of This Series: Numerous investigations have been carried on in the field of reading. Because of this fact a modern program in reading sould be scientific; but the statement is frequently heard that practic in the classroom is fully twenty-five years or more behind the findings of the experimental laboratory.
