With half title and frontispiece linecut illustration, plus occasional vignette portraits. Bound in at the rear are two catalogues: Works Preparing for Publication by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown (16 pp.) and (2) A Catalogue of Record Works, Printed under the Direction of The Commissioners on the Public Records of the Kingdom, on sale by Henry Butterworth (16 pp.). A wide-margined, uncut, interleaved copy (without notations), expanded into three volumes. A total of 956 works, largely from the collection of Thomas Park, are described in detail. Mild foxing to tp, pages otherwise clean and bright. With the stamp of the Metropolitan Literary Institution, a London literary club/salon formed in 1823, on tp verso. An overall fine and attractive copy.

Features small descriptions of each work, with an assortment of extracts from various pieces. With an armorial bookplate to the pastedown featuring the coat of George Seton Veitch, The first edition. In a calf full binding with gilt lettering and tooling to the spine and extremities of boards. Externally, sound with edgewear, marking to boards and a small red stain to front board. Front joint is starting but remains firm. Internally, smart with age toning to pages with light scattered spotting throughout. Firmly bound. Good. book.

Extensive synoptical index. Nicely rebacked retaining most of the original spine and the endpapers. The bottom compartment of the spine has been tooled in blind to style of the missing compartment. Wear to the edges else a very good copy. Lowndes, p. 200, observes that this is an extremely useful catalogue of the rare and curious collection made by T. Park and added to by T. Hill. It affords intresting information about the works of the early poets.

A collection of 956 books, priced, as catalogued by Acton Frederick Griffith for Thomas Park (1759-1834) the English antiquary and bibliographer, who, short of cash, had to sell the collection. The books found their way into the hands of Longman (et al.) who subsequently turned many of them over to auction. De Ricci (pp. 90-92) states that "the larger portion of the book describedÉwere subsequently brought together again in the Britwell Library.".
