This edition is a selection from the original four-volume work, which was first published in the 1860s. The book provides personal accounts of the closing stages of the Peninsular War and the Battle of Waterloo, along with acute observations of Wellington and the Bourbon restoration, as well as both English and French high society in the period. The Folio Society edition is a hardback with black buckram and a historic design in gold, containing 272 pages and contemporary illustrations. This copy is in excellent like-new condition.
