Il se livra à l'enseignement du grec à Bordeaux et à Coïmbre, revint en France pendant les guerres de religion, professa le protestantisme, ce qui le força à mener une vie errante et malheureuse, et fut enfin appelé à perndre la dierction du collège de La Rochelle. Il venait d'entrer en fonction lorsqu'il mourut. Ce savant dont de Thou faisait le plus grand cas, a publié, entres autres ouvrages: "Dialecticae praescriptiones" (Paris, 1552); "De comitiis Romanorum" (Paris, 1555); "Elenchi sophistici" (Paris, 1556); "De conjugiis romanis" (Venise, 1568); "Histoire des Indes de Portugal" (1553) traduite de Fernand Lopez de Castaneda (cf Grand dictionnaire universel Larousse).
