Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. Card Covers. 8vo. pp. [270]., recto only. Original black spiral bound red card covers lettered black on upper cover. Presentation copy: 'Gwen Dunn to N. S. 12 July 09.' Norman Scarfe's copy with his pencil corrections in the text. Handwritten signed card from Gwen Dunn to Norman Scarfe loosely inserted addressed from 121, High Street, Hadleigh, Suffolk IP7 5EJ dated 1.8.09 and consisting of about 100 words in which she says she is glad he is enjoying the poems and rhymes and that she would have loved to have published a little book of poetry. She says some of the poems in this book have appeared in anthologies. She ends by saying Scarfe's encouragement has made her think she might have another go at publishing a poetry book. Norman Scarfe (1923-2014) was a notable historian of East Anglia who conceived with Geoffrey Martin the idea of founding the Suffolk Records Society. He also worked for the conservation of his native Suffolk. Gwen Dunn was the headmistress of Whatfield village school in Suffolk for thirty years, a writer and a broadcaster. She wrote 'Simon's Last Year: The Story of a Village School', Methuen, 1959 which has a foreword by Norman Scarfe. Very good. Very good indeed. Signedes.
