5 lithographic plates on India paper, 285 x 430 mm. and an etching 330 x 470 mm. Each plate accompanied by a page of text. The plates and text of part 1 of "Picturesque Delineations of the Highlands of Scotland." In 1825 George Anderson, the Inverness solicitor who founded the Northern Institution for the Promotion of Science an…d Literature supplied the text for a set of views published by his friend Mr. John Guy Hamilton. The work had been intended to appear in four parts, but only the first part seems to have been published. The text was printed by James Ballantyne of Edinburgh. The views are: Loch Ness from Dores, Pass of Inverfarrikaig, Falls of Foyers, Urquhart Castle and Culloden House. The outline prospect is untitled and may be a proof etching before aquatint; the image is untraced. BL, NLS Aberdeen University and University of Guelph [Canada] are the only locations. The NLS copy is coloured.
