A biography of the sieges of Trino, Arras, and Lerida, and the count's time at and exile from court, with some discussion of intrigues and love affairs in both England and France. Though billed as a memoir, the work was written by the count's brother-in-law. "The account of Gramont's early career was doubtless provided by himself, but Hamilton was probably more familiar with the history of the court of Charles II., which forms the most interesting section of the book." (Britannica).
