Pages: [8], 1-133, [1] last page blank, page edges untrimmed, printed notes to margins, bound in modern quarter calf over marbled boards, gilt title to spine, new cream endpapers. Pale age-browning throughout, narrow repair to outer edge of page 132, outer edge of the orchard woodcut slightly trimmed with loss to several word endings, staining to edges of remaining old free endpaper at rear, occasional small spot and stain, some light old ink scribble, mostly to woodcuts (see images). A good copy of an early edition. The Country Housewives Garden is the first book written especially for women gardeners. Pages: [8], 1-134, [1] - last leaf is original endpaper, printed notes to margins, bound in full recent speckled calf, gilt lettered green label, gilt decoration, rules and date between raised bands, new black endpapers. Pale age-browning throughout, 3 lower margins ragged due to paper fault, not affecting text, tiny burn hole affecting 1 letter, 4 pages at rear have small pale stain to outer margins, original free endpaper slightly chipped and brown at edges, occasional small spot or mark.
